Kursumlijska Spa

With the most pleasant climate of all spas in Serbia, the Spa Town Kursumlijska Banja (pronounce Banya, means Spa) with its natural environment that makes up forests, the Banjska River, and a small stream with clean water, along with clean air with no industry nearby is true health and recreation resort. Kursumlija Banja was the first capital of Stevan Nemanja, the founder of the famous and significant Nemanjic Dynasty. Just here in Kursumlija, Stevan Nemanja built The Most Holy Mother of God Monastery and St. Nicholas Monastery.

The Serbian state has sold the Kursumlijska Spa to the company Planinka, with thy buyer having pledged to invest over €10m in the facility. Work on Kursmlijska Spa and the institute of health tourism in Spa, Hotel Zubor (Eng. Murmur) should be done by the end of 2020. Planinka Company, as of now, runs with great success, the Hotel Radan at Prolom Spa, the Hotel Jelak, and the Hotel Kopaonik at Lukovska Spa.

Medicinal Factors and Therapeutic Indications

The total number of hot springs used in this spa is 10. All springs flow into the Banjska River, causing the water temperature of the river up to 38°C. There are many ways of using these waters for healing purposes by drinking, bathing, spraying. This area is also rich in Thermo mineral medicinal mud, which is used both in the treatments of many diseases and cosmetic purposes. Medicinal Peloid mud from this area was world-famous, and one of the most healing mineral muds in Europe, but today it has not its original raw form. Today, mud is artificially prepared, with great success; the soil from the spa mixes with sulfide Thermo mineral water, producing mineral-rich mud.
