Restaurant Stambolijski is a place where you could taste both, traditional and modern Balkan cuisine recipes. What sets them apart from all other restaurants in the city is its own bakery and delicacies prepared with “Slow Food Philosophy”. The menu is a work of the famous celebrity chef Saša Mišić, also known through the Hell’s Kitchen Serbia reality cooking show.
The food they prepare is also the testimony of Serbian cultural identity. Through the mix of various flavors on the plate, you will taste the piece of each civilization that was taking place in the Balkans throughout the centuries.
The restaurant is the house of famous Todor Stankovic, also known as Stambolija (February 13, 1852 - July 15, 1925) and is almost one and a half century old. Todor was the former District Mayor, the member of Parliament, and a Serbian Consul in Pristina and Skopje. As the most educated among his contemporaries, he has entered into national affairs for the liberation of Nis from the Turks and, according to instructions from "Free Serbia", was the central figure in all actions, which were guided by the locals and the community leaders for speeding up the liberation.
