Toplica region is famous for cultivating mainly Prokupac - an autochthonous Serbian variety of black grape and Devil's Town (in Serbian Djavolja Varos) that was nominated for one of the New seven wonders of Nature. Unfortunately, it did not pass the election, but it will continue to attract various tourists around the world who are looking for an adventure and a mystery.
It has consisted of two rare phenomena, 202 stone formations created by volcanic erosion over a million years ago, and two springs Devil's Water and Red Well of extremely acidic water with high mineral content.
Similar stone formations exist around the world but not as high as this one here. The height ranges from 2 – 15 m and width from 4 – 6 m. On top, it has stone caps as protection from further erosion.
What is an interesting story about these stone formations?
There are two legends that people have told over the years about this place.
One legend says that these stone formations are petrified wedding guests, who on devil's order wanted to marry a brother and a sister. Then God punished them by turning them into stone to stand there as a reminder that no sin goes unpunished. The other legend says that a witch was fulfilling human desire as long as they were giving her everything she asked for. These stone statues are those who did not fulfill the promise or tried to deceive a witch.UndefinedDEPARTURE/RETURN LOCATION

Driving toward Kuršumlija city and the world-famous locality Devil's Town (srb. Djavolja Varoš) is famous according to two natural phenomena - two springs of extremely acidic and mineralized water and 202 stone figures, which together look very mystical and attractive.
First stop to visit winery "Toplički Vinogradi", one of the most beautiful and largest wineries in the Balkans. Located in the middle of an endless 51 hectares of vineyards, where, among others, the autochthonous grape variety of southern Serbia "Prokupac" is growing will leave you breathless.
We continue our journey for a panoramic tour of Kuršumlija City with a visit to the monastery of St. Nicholas and The Most Holy Mother of God, the oldest endowment of Stefan Nemanja, built between 1159-1166. He was a founder of the Serbian state and the Nemanjić dynasty. Nemanja became the "grand župan" (clan leader) of Raška under Byzantine suzerainty in 1169.
Drive to the natural site of Devil's Town or "Djavolja varoš". An easy walk through the site, the only natural monument declared a monument of exceptional importance. The stone formations were created by centuries of erosive processes and are unique in the world.
Lunch break at the cottage restaurant.
On the way back a short visit to the settlement Pločnik which belonged to Vinča culture and represents the first example of metallurgy in Europe. Then we will visit a family winery Doja (read Doya), one of the famous in the Toplica region that cultivates mainly Prokupac - an autochthonous Serbian variety of black grape with a long tradition in the production of red wine.
